Current Activities:

Georgi Tcheishvili is a senior associate and Cornell Caspian Consulting's Georgia representative. He is a senior researcher at the Georgian Academy of Science's Institute for History and Ethnology. Moreover, he is a deputy program manager for the British energy corporation PA Government Service inc. He graduated with honors (Diplom s otlichiem) from the department of History, Tbilisi State University, in 1985, and received his doctoral degree (Kandidat Nauk) from the institute of History and Ethnology of the Georgian Academy of Sciences in 1994. He participated in the Advanced Conflict Studies program of Uppsala University in 1999. He has been a researcher at the institute since 1985. Between 1993 and 1999, he lectured in Georgian history at the Georgian Technical University, while teaching history and civic education at a secondary school in Tbilisi. He is also a volunteer research consultant for NGO Caucasia.

His research centers on the study of territorial conflicts between Georgia and its neighbors, a topic on which he has published several articles. He is currently involved in a project on Borders of the Georgian SSR in the Soviet period. Together with other colleagues, he won a Dunbarton Oaks/Harvard University grant on surveying monuments under risk in Georgia. He is fluent in Georgian, Russian, and English, and speaks German.
